PERPETUAL PROFESSION 2024 - SR. MARGARET BARNABAS

On the 13 th of October 2024 the Province of Malta was all in jubilation celebrating the final profession of Sr Margaret Barnabas, our first Pakistani Sister!!! It was a vibrant celebration with a good presence of Pakistani families among whom Sr Margaret witnessed the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The choir added to the spiritual experience by their angelic female and male voices.
ON-GOING FORMATION -RENEWAL COURSE

Participating in the DSH spiritual program was a profound journey into the heart of faith and the history and cultural heritage of the Church and our congregation. The
pilgrimage to Rome provided us with an ideal setting for deep spiritual reflection and growth that combined faith, history, and devotion and allowed us to connect with our beliefs and the rich Catholic heritage of the city.

Leena Castelino, Sheela Stuart, Alice Mathias, Carmen Cardoza and Lourdes Noronha; Silver Jubilee of Srs. Nutan Lugun, Kiran Maravi, Tracy, Pravina and Kripa Maria and the perpetual profession of Srs. Elisaba Surin, Alpana Kiran Ekka, Jyoti Sabina Minj and Inapanuri Asha on 2 nd January 2024.
INDIA PROVINCIAL CHAPTER 2023

The Province of India St. Margaret Mary Alaque has held its 9 th Chapter from 26 th December to 1 st January 2024. The elected delegates from the different communities were present for the chapter.
The chapter began with the day of recollection. Rt. Rev. Peter Parapullil the bishopof Jhansi offered the Holy Eucharist and in the homily he asked us to be receptive to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

On November 9, 2023, the fourth Malta Provincial Conference was held with thetheme of Forgiveness, Community, and Mission. This conference was a crucialevent for the province, providing an opportunity for reflection and evaluation of its community life.

On September 2nd, 2023, the Malta Province celebrated the feast of their
Provincial Superior, Sr. Victoria Sant, with great joy. The Mass was led by
Reverend Father John Scicluna S.J. and took place in the Chapel of Christ the King Convent, Fleur de Lys. During the Mass, the Local Superiors were given their mandate and Sr. Margaret Barnabas renewed her vows. The singing was led by the
novices.
SPREADING FAR AND WIDE

The Eastern Africa Province gave birth to a second community in Arusha, Tanzania on December 2 nd , 2022, bringing the number of communities in Tanzania to three.
The new Teresa Nuzzo Convent was blessed by His Grace. Archbishop Isaac Amani of the Archdiocese of Arusha. He called upon those in attendance to be instruments of peace.
PERPETUAL PROFESSION AND SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

On the 29th of June 2022, Srs Pauline Farrugia, Prassede Farrugia,
Margherita Busuttil, and Catherine Seychell celebrated the 50th
Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of their First Profession in the Congregation
Daughters of the Sacred Heart. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Rev. Fr. Alex Refalo, in the Chapel of Christ the King Convent, Fleur de Lys.Father Alex in his homily, compared our consecrated life with that of the Eucharistic Consecration and challengedus to be transformed in order to become Eucharist to one another and be broken in our service to others.

As one would expect from the life of Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo, her rays of light have lightened the lives of many people, as she was enriched by various virtues. This holy woman has blessed everyone who has enjoyed her good works.Her whole life was blended with a crown of roses and thorns. When the Lord made her to drink from the cup of bitterness, Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo testified that her power was not coming from anything else but God whom she had
earnestly loved.

A ten decade has passed by since our beloved mother Foundress departed from this earthly abode. We stand at the threshold of the centenary year, of her entry into heavenly abode. We
rejoice because we have completed a hundred year. On this great occasion I look back at her life with great pride and gratitude to God for giving us such a person as our Foundress.

and community in Membley, Ruiru. This took place right after a Eucharistic celebration
animated by the students of Teresa Nuzzo Girls Secondary School and presided by the parish
priest, Fr. John Kiongo (St. Lucia Parish, Membley).

The Maltese Province held its 9th Chapter from 31st. October to 4th November 2021. For this special event, most of the sisters from our local Communities attended the opening Mass, presided by Fr Mark Sultana. Before the Mass, we organized an hour of Adoration during which reflections and prayers on the theme chosen for this Chapter, "PUTTING THE NEW
SELF" (Eph 4:24), were shared.

NEW PROVINCIAL SUPERIOR AND COUNCIL FOR MALTA PROVINCE

Sr Victoria Sant from Mellieħa has been, re-appointed Provincial Superior of the ‘Daughters of the Sacred Heart’. Sr Victoria joined the Congregation in 1979. After her first profession, she spent fourteen years in Kenya as a missionary. Later, for two years, she was part of the community in Ireland.
WORKSHOP FOR LEADERS

The Eastern Africa Province held the annual workshop for leaders (Formators, Community Animators and Provincial Leaders) from March 10th – 12th, 2021. Thetheme for the workshop was Emotional Maturity for Community Living facilitated by Sheila Beriter Namulekwa (Counselling Psychologist and Trainer).
THE SOLEMNITY OF ST JOSEPH

On March 13 th 2021, the Eastern Africa Province, anticipated the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary. The celebration took place at the Provincialate in Nairobi. During the occasion, the province officially inaugurated the year of St. Joseph
which is already being observed in the various communities.

It was 10 th February 2021 we were shocked to hear the sad and Unexpected parting of Rev. Mother Jude this news spread like a wild fire in and around the city of Lalitpur so on the 12 th , the school Administration under the able leadership of Rev Fr John Padayatill along with the other priest and religious Conducted a Condolence Prayer service in her honor.

SR. CHRISTINA BECK: A ROSARY NUN

Sr. Christina was born in the year 1968 to humble parents Mr. Dominic and Veronica Beck in Jharkhand North India. To tell about her in short, she was a nun with a rosary. Rosary was in her hands round the clock to recite. She believed that rosary is the ladder to heaven.
When on her sick bed our Bishop Rt. Rev.Samuel visited to pray and bless her and gave awhite rosary which she wore it happily around her neck till her demise. Such was her ardent
love and devotion to Our Lady.

5th December 2020 was a special day for the Eastern Africa Province.
Amidst the COVID-19 storm, with everyone clad in masks and with all prescribed precautions observed, we witnessed: first and perpetual profession of vows as well as both silver and golden jubilee of our sisters.

CELEBRATION OF SR FELICIANA'S 90TH BIRTHDAY - 6/11/2020

Sr Feliciana Saliba celebrated her 90th Birthday on 6 November 2020. Fr Michael Saliba OP her spiritual director celebrated Mass and then we shared some moments of fellowship and food together. It was a lovely event for the whole community especially during this time of Covid19. Such activities raise the morale of the old sisters.

The Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Province of India, celebrated the First Profession of Vows of the four Novices- Sr. Gyanawati Kudape, Sr. Sangeeta Kujur, Sr. Sweta Bakhla and Sr.Tejaswini Betala.The Eucharistic celebration was held at St. Jude’s Foundling Home on August 27, 2020. Rt. Rev. Peter Parapullil, Bishop of Jhansi officiated at the Solemn Eucharist along with Fr. Lawrence Xavier, Fr. Ashok Ekka and Fr. Renoy SDB.

The Daughters of the Sacred Heart started a first aid centre for the poor people ( Fisher flock) of Rochmanagar, Tamil Nadu, India, in the year 2010. Now it has grown into a Health Care Centre with many facilities like Doctors, lab, X-ray department, physiotherapy,
Causality etc. We, the sisters reach out to hundreds of families of nearly 25 to 30 surrounding villages.

The Daughters of the Sacred Heart hold their General Chapter every six years to elect their superior general, along with her team of councillors and bursars in the administration of the Congregation, and also to study and reflect on some aspects related to the way of life as DSH.
The official opening of the Chapter was on 4th July 2019 at 10.30 am at Generalate HouseMellieha Malta, with the mass of the Holy Spirit. The Apostolic Nuncio of Malta, His Excellency Archbishop Alessandro D'Errico presided over the Eucharistic celebration.

over many months culminated on this special day. There was an atmosphere of newness, joy,
enthusiasm and positive energy; all gifts from the Spirit. It felt like the joy of a woman in giving birth to an offspring.
