CELEBRATING THE PROVINCIAL SUPERIOR, SISTER VICTORIA SANT'S FEAST
On September 2nd, 2023, the Malta Province celebrated the feast of their
Provincial Superior, Sr. Victoria Sant, with great joy. The Mass was led by
Reverend Father John Scicluna S.J. and took place in the Chapel of Christ the King Convent, Fleur de Lys. During the Mass, the Local Superiors were given their mandate and Sr. Margaret Barnabas renewed her vows. The singing was led by the
SPREADING FAR AND WIDE
The Eastern Africa Province gave birth to a second community in Arusha, Tanzania on December 2 nd , 2022, bringing the number of communities in Tanzania to three.
The new Teresa Nuzzo Convent was blessed by His Grace. Archbishop Isaac Amani of the Archdiocese of Arusha. He called upon those in attendance to be instruments of peace.
PERPETUAL PROFESSION AND SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
On the 25 th of November 2022, three young sisters (Naomi Masese, Rachael Gitimu and Ann Muchiri) took their perpetual vows having appropriately completed their
journey of juniorate. Sr. Stellamaris Kimau celebrated her silver Jubilee on the same day.

FEAST OF PROVINCIAL SUPERIOR, SR. VICTORIA SANT
With great joy, the Malta Province celebrated the feast of our Provincial
Superior, Sr. Victoria Sant on 9th of September 2022. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Scicluna S.J. in the Chapel of Christ the King Convent, Fleur de Lys. On this occasion, Sr Margaret Barnabas (a junior Sister) renewed her temporary vows.
On the 29th of June 2022, Srs Pauline Farrugia, Prassede Farrugia,
Margherita Busuttil, and Catherine Seychell celebrated the 50th
Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of their First Profession in the Congregation
Daughters of the Sacred Heart. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Rev. Fr. Alex Refalo, in the Chapel of Christ the King Convent, Fleur de Lys.Father Alex in his homily, compared our consecrated life with that of the Eucharistic Consecration and challengedus to be transformed in order to become Eucharist to one another and be broken in our service to others.
COMMENCING THE CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF MADRE MARIA THERESA NUZZO
A great day to be remembered. To commemorate the 100 th year since the death of the Foundress Madre Maria Theresa Nuzzo in 2023, Theresa Nuzzo School, Marsa had organized a procession and a fun day on 11 th May 2022. We commenced the day with prayers and walked around the school behind the statue of Madre Theresa Nuzzo. Year 6 students, with the help of their teachers and LSEs, prepared prayers and meditated few thoughts that were written by Madre Theresa Nuzzo.

A Foundress cannot live a life of holiness in secrecy, but her holiness shines forth to the people through the ages. As one would expect from the life of Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo, her rays of light have lightened the lives of many people, as she was enriched by various virtues. This holy woman has blessed everyone who has enjoyed her good works.Her whole life was blended with a crown of roses and thorns. When the Lord made her to drink from the cup of bitterness, Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo testified that her power was not coming from anything else but God whom she had
MOTHER THERESA NUZZO- AN EPITOME OF LOVE
A ten decade has passed by since our beloved mother Foundress departed from this earthly abode. We stand at the threshold of the centenary year, of her entry into heavenly abode. We
rejoice because we have completed a hundred year. On this great occasion I look back at her life with great pride and gratitude to God for giving us such a person as our Foundress.
OFFICIAL OPENING OF TERESA NUZZO GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL AND SISTERS' CONVENT - EASTERN AFRICA PROVINCE
On the 26 th of November 2021, Mother General, Sr. Pauline Farrugia officially opened the school
and community in Membley, Ruiru. This took place right after a Eucharistic celebration
animated by the students of Teresa Nuzzo Girls Secondary School and presided by the parish
priest, Fr. John Kiongo (St. Lucia Parish, Membley).
MALTA PROVINCIAL CHAPTER - 2021
The Maltese Province held its 9th Chapter from 31st. October to 4th November 2021. For this special event, most of the sisters from our local Communities attended the opening Mass, presided by Fr Mark Sultana. Before the Mass, we organized an hour of Adoration during which reflections and prayers on the theme chosen for this Chapter, "PUTTING THE NEW
SELF" (Eph 4:24), were shared.

On the 9th of September 2021, the Province of Malta celebrated the Feast Day of our Provincial Superior, Sr Victoria Sant. The celebration began at 6.00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fleur de Lys, with the Eucharist presided by Fr. John Scicluna S.J.
NEW PROVINCIAL SUPERIOR AND COUNCIL FOR MALTA PROVINCE
Sr Victoria Sant from Mellieħa has been, re-appointed Provincial Superior of the ‘Daughters of the Sacred Heart’. Sr Victoria joined the Congregation in 1979. After her first profession, she spent fourteen years in Kenya as a missionary. Later, for two years, she was part of the community in Ireland.
WORKSHOP FOR LEADERS
The Eastern Africa Province held the annual workshop for leaders (Formators, Community Animators and Provincial Leaders) from March 10th – 12th, 2021. Thetheme for the workshop was Emotional Maturity for Community Living facilitated by Sheila Beriter Namulekwa (Counselling Psychologist and Trainer).
THE SOLEMNITY OF ST JOSEPH
On March 13 th 2021, the Eastern Africa Province, anticipated the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary. The celebration took place at the Provincialate in Nairobi. During the occasion, the province officially inaugurated the year of St. Joseph
which is already being observed in the various communities.
LOVING TRIBUTE TO MOTHER JUDE
It was 10 th February 2021 we were shocked to hear the sad and Unexpected parting of Rev. Mother Jude this news spread like a wild fire in and around the city of Lalitpur so on the 12 th , the school Administration under the able leadership of Rev Fr John Padayatill along with the other priest and religious Conducted a Condolence Prayer service in her honor.
70 YEARS OF GRACE
Sisters of Mellieha community celebrated 80 and 70 years of life to Sr.Generosa and Sr. Leena Castelino on 16 January 2021. Here is a small poem by Sr. Leena to express her gratitude to God.
SR. CHRISTINA BECK: A ROSARY NUN
Sr. Christina was born in the year 1968 to humble parents Mr. Dominic and Veronica Beck in Jharkhand North India. To tell about her in short, she was a nun with a rosary. Rosary was in her hands round the clock to recite. She believed that rosary is the ladder to heaven.
When on her sick bed our Bishop Rt. Rev.Samuel visited to pray and bless her and gave awhite rosary which she wore it happily around her neck till her demise. Such was her ardent
love and devotion to Our Lady.

5th December 2020 was a special day for the Eastern Africa Province.
Amidst the COVID-19 storm, with everyone clad in masks and with all prescribed precautions observed, we witnessed: first and perpetual profession of vows as well as both silver and golden jubilee of our sisters.
80TH ANNIVERSARY OF PERPETUAL ADORATION IN THE CHURCH OF THE HOLUY SPIRIT IN ZEJTUN
It was the late and holy Monsignor Salv Grima who was then rector of the church who founded the Perpetual Adoration in 1940. Thus,
in preparation for this 80th Anniversary, on Monday, July 13, 2020, Archbishop Mons Charles J. Scicluna was invited to preside over.
CELEBRATION OF SR FELICIANA'S 90TH BIRTHDAY - 6/11/2020
Sr Feliciana Saliba celebrated her 90th Birthday on 6 November 2020. Fr Michael Saliba OP her spiritual director celebrated Mass and then we shared some moments of fellowship and food together. It was a lovely event for the whole community especially during this time of Covid19. Such activities raise the morale of the old sisters.
ENTRY INTO NOVITIATE
4th September 2020 was a Joyful and memorable day for Malta Province. On this day, Postulant Margaret Barabbas officially started her Noviciate in our Congregation.
She was received by Provincial Superior, Sr Victoria Sant during
Eucharist celebration led by Fr Bernard Mangion MSSP. Our Mother General Sr Pauline Farrugia graced the event.

On 9th September 2020, with great joy, the Malta Province celebrated thefeast of the Provincial Superior, Sr. Victoria Sant. At noon, a great lunch was prepared by Sr. Dolores and helpers and served. For this lunch, Mother General, Council members, and Local Superiors were also invited.
FIRST PROFESSION OF VOWS
The Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Province of India, celebrated the First Profession of Vows of the four Novices- Sr. Gyanawati Kudape, Sr. Sangeeta Kujur, Sr. Sweta Bakhla and Sr.Tejaswini Betala.The Eucharistic celebration was held at St. Jude’s Foundling Home on August 27, 2020. Rt. Rev. Peter Parapullil, Bishop of Jhansi officiated at the Solemn Eucharist along with Fr. Lawrence Xavier, Fr. Ashok Ekka and Fr. Renoy SDB.
SACRED HEART CONVENT-ROCHMANAGAR
The Daughters of the Sacred Heart started a first aid centre for the poor people ( Fisher flock) of Rochmanagar, Tamil Nadu, India, in the year 2010. Now it has grown into a Health Care Centre with many facilities like Doctors, lab, X-ray department, physiotherapy,
Causality etc. We, the sisters reach out to hundreds of families of nearly 25 to 30 surrounding villages.
SACRED HEART FORMATION HOUSE KABALE DIOCESE MUKO PARISH
The flame from the Sacred Heart which was deep within DSH has been flamed out, revealing in public as more followers come before the Altar of God to say yes. It was on 10 January 2020 when this light started with a spark when we received two candles for the “come and see”
program, which was also fuelled up with holy sacrifice of Mass and official blessing of the formation house By Rev Fr. John Mary Vianney Parish priest, Muko Parish.
INAUGURATION OF KARERA MISSION - INDIA
Lead by the grace of God our Provincial Superior Sr. Marina Sebastian and Sr. Vandana Thomas acquired a piece of land on 21 st December 2016, in the Diocese of Gwalior.
PCC started in the Philippines in 2004, when the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Phillipines (CBCP) through Bishop Benjamin Almoneda. Today PCC is present in 5 Dioceses: Daet, Cubao, Iba, Novaliches and Balanga as well in 12 municipalities.

Ecology and animals. In this context our School Theresa Nuzzo in
Marsa, celebrated this special and spiritual day, by inviting the parents of our students to bring their pets to school so that the pets will be blessed.

The Daughters of the Sacred Heart hold their General Chapter every six years to elect their superior general, along with her team of councillors and bursars in the administration of the Congregation, and also to study and reflect on some aspects related to the way of life as DSH.
The official opening of the Chapter was on 4th July 2019 at 10.30 am at Generalate HouseMellieha Malta, with the mass of the Holy Spirit. The Apostolic Nuncio of Malta, His Excellency Archbishop Alessandro D'Errico presided over the Eucharistic celebration.
JUBILEE BELLS FROM MALTA AND E. AFRICA PROVINCE 50TH & 25TH ANNIVERSARY

their First Profession and Sr Angelina Mulani of her 25th Anniversary in
the Congregation Daughters of the Sacred heart. The Eucharistic
celebration was presided by the Auxilary Bishop of Malta Mons. Joseph Galea Curmi, in the Chapel of Christ the King Convent, in Fleur de
lys, the provincial house of Malta.

INAUGURATION OF THE DSH EAST AFRICAN PROVINCE
9 th December 2018 will forever be a historic day for the congregation. On this day the East African Region was elevated to a province. The intense preparation that had taken place
over many months culminated on this special day. There was an atmosphere of newness, joy,
enthusiasm and positive energy; all gifts from the Spirit. It felt like the joy of a woman in giving birth to an offspring.
FIRST AND FINAL PROFESSION – 8TH DECEMBER 2018
On this great solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, we witnessed the first profession of 4
novices and the perpetual profession of 3 junior sisters. Our sisters from the various communities in East Africa, parents, family members, friends, lay associates, clergy,
religious men and women flocked the provincial house. Joy was written all over their faces.
115TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BEGINNING OF THE CONGREGATION
On the 21st November 2018, we the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, celebrated the 115 years since the Servant of God Mother Maria Tesesa Nuzzo, founded our Congregation. This year, this commemoration was held in the Santuary of Our Lady of tas-Samra L-Ħamrun.

CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE YEAR OF THE FOUNDRESS
The year of the Foundress was declared on 17/04/2017 within our congregation, so as to give incentive to the sisters to delve deeper into the life and spirituality of our Foundress, Servant of God Maria Teresa Nuzzo.
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
On the 19th March, 2018, Sr. Carmelina Farrugia and Sr. Claudia Zahra celebrated the 50th Anniversary of their First Profession in the Congregation Daughters of the Sacred Heart.
MALTA PROVINCE – 8TH PROVINCIAL CHAPTER
October -November 2017
The Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Malta held its 8th Provincial Chapter
from 30 th October to 5 th November 2017. The number of delegtes, who took part in this Chapter was 19. With Mother General, Sr. Pauline Farrugia as the President of the Chapter.
EAST AFRICA JUBILEE
25th November 2017 was a historic day for the Daughters of the Sacred Heart East Africa Region. On this day, the first two African sisters Lucy Wanjiru Mbuthia and Lucia Mwikali Mutuku celebrated their Silver Jubilee in Religious life.
MALTA PROVINCE - THE APPOINTMENT OF THE NEW PROVINCIAL SUPERIOR
The Official ceremony ofappointment was marked by a prayer service was guided by Sr. Rita Vella, ex provincial. The theme chosen was “The Good Shepherd and Servant”.
SACRED HEART CONVENT MORRISTON, WALES
A new chapter opened in the history of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart. A long-awaited dream of entering the mission land of Wales came into reality. Mother General Sr Pauline Farrugia, and Srs Jacqueline and mini reached the promised land on 6th June 2017.
94TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF OUR FOUNDRESS
- On Monday 17th April, 2017, we, Daughters of the Sacred Heart celebrated the 94th anniversary of the death of our Foundress, Madre Maria Teresa Nuzzo.
DAUGHTERS OF THE SACRED HEART IN ROME, ITALY
Our community in Marino, Italy, just outskirts of the capital city of Italy, Rome, is just two years old. In these two years we have made huge steps to insert ourselves in the new culture, new people and new language.
INDIA PROVINCE - STAGES OF FORMATION
- St. Augustine: “You made my heart for you and it will never find repose until it rest in you.” Underlying such holistic understanding of experience, St. Francis de sales reveals his firm belief in the basic goodness of human person. Therefore even in sin and estrangement from God, one will experience the basic drive of human person to find union and fulfillment in God.
CONFERENCE AT HYDERABAD- SOUTH INDIA DELEGATION
- The daughters of the Sacred Heart delegation of India held its fourth conference at Hyderabad from 27.12.16 to 30.12.16. About 20 sisters from all the communities participated.The theme of the conference was “style of Religions life and formation in accordance with the present scenario.
113TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BEGINNING OF THE CONGREGATION
- The Congregation, Daughters of the Sacred Heart was started on the
21 st November 1903, when Archbishop Pietro Pace received the vows of Mother Maria Tereza Nuzzo and a few others in the Church of Tal-Madonna tas-Samra, Hamrun Malta.
SEMINAR FOR TEACHERS
SOUTH INDIA DELEGATION
Seminar for the teachers was held to make every teacher to become not only efficient but also effective. It also helps a teacher to improve and develop the craft of each mentor in school. Seminar also an opportunity for self improvement . We the teachers of Sacred Heart convent school had this opportunity on 14th November 2016.
EAST AFRICA REGION FIRST AND FINAL PROFESSION
- 19th November was a red letter day for all the DSH Family in Africa Region to mark the occasion of seven first profession and four final profession.
OPENING OF THE NEW COMMUNITY IN ELDORET DIOCESE
- The DSH family from E.Africa region affirms along with the psalmist:
If the Lord does not built the house, in vain do the builders labour Ps 127, 1, As the sisters experienced deeply when the new community in Eldoret diocese was opened in the month of November 2016 This sentiment gives courage andenthusiasm to start the new mission in this area.
ON THE 11TH
- Every 11th day of the month, an Adoration is held in different Parish Churches on the island. In October, the Adoration followed by Mass was held in the Parish Church of Sta Venera.
THE EXTRAORDINARY YEAR OF THE DIVINE MERCY

- In this Year of Mercy, the Congregation Daughters of the Sacred Heart has organised two pilgrimages to the three Churches which are chosen by the Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna for the Island of Malta.
FLAMES OF LOVE
- Every year, the Flames of Love meet in a seminar. They renew their commitment as Lay Associates of the Congregation, Daughters of the Sacred Heart.

- The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated every year in the Congregation in several areas where there are the convents of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart.

- Srs. Teresa Ciantar and Petronilla Camilleri had the joy of celebrating their 50th Golden Jubilee of their religious profession with many of their family members.
