FIRST AND FINAL PROFESSION – 8TH DECEMBER 2018
On this great solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, we witnessed the first profession of 4 novices and the perpetual profession of 3 junior sisters. Our sisters from the various communities in East Africa, parents, family members, friends, lay associates, clergy, religious men and women flocked the provincial house. Joy was written all over their faces.
The Eucharistic Celebration began at 10:30 am. It was presided by his Lordship Reverend Bishop David Kamau; auxiliary bishop for Nairobi Archdiocese. In his homily he invited the newly professed sisters to embrace the spirit of renunciation and to give themselves wholeheartedly to the Lord. Our Superior General, Sr. Pauline Farrugia received the vows in the name of the congregation. In her address to the newly professed, she encouraged them to remain faithful to their commitment.
The entire celebration was colourful; aspirants, postulants, novices and young sisters danced during the mass. After the mass, the newly professed cut a cake that was prepared in their honour and set out to feed all in attendance as a sign of their readiness to serve the congregation and the church. A delicious meal was served and ample time was spent with the newly professed congratulating and wishing them well. We are grateful to God for blessing us with vocations year in, year out. May the Lord who sends labourers to the harvest be forever blessed!
