SACRED HEART CONVENT MORRISTON, WALES
A new chapter opened in the history of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart. A long-awaited dream of entering the mission land of Wales came into reality. Mother General Sr Pauline Farrugia, and Srs Jacqueline and mini reached the promised land on 6th June 2017.
We were given a warm and happy welcome at the airport by the parish priest Fr.Jason and the parishioner Sony Sebastian one of the parishioners from Sacred Heart Parish Morriston.
As we were heading towards our sweet home the lush green plains and the lawn hillocks with their grandeur appearance welcomed us joyfully. The captivating view of Wales on either side of the road left us wonderstruck and spellbound. We reached our destination at 7.30 p.m. On the hills of Swansea stands the huge edifice Sacred Heart Parish.
We were officially welcomed to the diocese by Most.Rev.Thomas Mathew Burns on 23rd June on the feast day of the Sacred Heart. The bishop blessed our house on the same day and welcomed us with the full support to the diocese. During the feast day mass, we renewed our vows and made our commitment to serve the people of the parish in the presence of the entire congregation. It was a grace filled moment. We were being welcomed throughout the week in each Eucharistic Celebration. Almost everyday prayers for the Daughters of the Sacred Heart is raised at the altar. The picture of our dear foundress is placed in the church for the people to seek her intercession for their various needs. On First Friday, the prayer to Mother Foundress is said in the church.
Srs Mini and Jacqueline are fully involved in the parish activities. Sacred Heart parish is a very vibrant and active parish. A lot of apostolate to get involved in. Every week we visit the sick in the hospital and pray for their speedy recovery. We are involved in teaching catechism, visiting the old, visiting the families of children who are confirmed and received Holy communion. We are part of Legion of Mary, Lectio Divina, Divine Mercy study group. We also join the Indian mothers for prayer. We attend the youth meeting. We make it possible to attend every Eucharistic celebration that goes on each day. Every Friday is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Full day adoration is done on First Fridays. There are also days dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima and Divine Mercy. We feel blessed to be in the parish and to render our service in whichever way we can.
The parish priest, his assistant along with the entire community make sure all our spiritual and material needs are met each day. It is an international community of Welsh, polish, Italians, Philippines and Indians. People are very friendly, warm and welcoming. The Sacred Heart of Jesus has led His daughters to the right place. We remember God every moment with thankfulness.
