Pastoral Care for Children (PCC)
“So that all children may enjoy life and life in all its fullness”PCC started in the Philippines in 2004, when the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Phillipines (CBCP) through Bishop Benjamin Almoneda. Today PCC is present in 5 Dioceses: Daet, Cubao, Iba, Novaliches and Balanga as well in 12 municipalities.
PCC in General Luna, Quezon Province was started by Sr. Assuntha Duraisamy in 2014. There are seven villages. 280 families with 285 children are the beneficiaries of this program. This program aims to monitor the health of pregnant mothers and children from 0 – 6 years old. There are 27 volunteers of different villages who are working in this project together with Sr. Assuntha. Home visitation, Celebration of Life (once in a month the mothers with their children meet together to take weight and height of their children.
Mothers are given health education and children are taught moral values and etiquettes) and Meeting of the Volunteers are the main activities of the project. Besides these they also carry out activities like back yard gardening, planting vegetables and herbal plants, making herbal medicines, caring and protecting the mother earth and environment and recycling of the waste materials.
