The Daughters of the Sacred Heart hold their General Chapter every six years to elect their superior general, along with her team of councillors and bursars in the administration of the Congregation, and also to study and reflect on some aspects related to the way of life as DSH. The official opening of the Chapter was on 4th July 2019 at 10.30 am at Generalate House Mellieha Malta, with the mass of the Holy Spirit. The Apostolic Nuncio of Malta, His Excellency Archbishop Alessandro D'Errico presided over the Eucharistic celebration. In the General Chapter 2019 on 8th July after prayer and reflection by the delegates of the Chapter and the entire congregation, Sr Pauline Farrugia was elceted as the Superior General of the Congregation for the second term. On 11th July the administration team was elected Sr Leena Castelino as the Vicar General , Sr Rita Vella, Sr Angelina Mulani, Sr Sahaya Mary as councillors Sr Generosa Parnis Bursar General and her assistant Sr Josephine Mina.
The theme for the General Chapter was ‘On the Road to Emmaua’ with a focus on formation and mission in this fast-moving world keeping in mind our Foundress Maria Teresa Nuzzo and her journey of Faith, Hope and charity with compassion. The participants for this special event of the congregation, were elected delgates from Malta, Rome, India, E. Africa and Philippines.The 29 capitulants spent one month in Melleiha, Malta, in the Generalate community studying and formulating a manual for formation.
