The Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Malta held its 8th Provincial Chapter from 30 th October to 5 th November 2017. The number of delegtes, who took part in this Chapter was 19. With Mother General, Sr. Pauline Farrugia as the President of the Chapter. The theme of the chapter was “Journey of Hope in Joy”. The opening Mass celebrated by Fr. Mark Sultana, was held on Monday 30th October 2017 at 4.00p.m. in our Convent at Fleur de lys.

Most of the sisters from our local Communities attended for this opening Mass, in which together we prayed the Holy Spirit to lighten our minds and to guide us during this Chapter. This was followed by an hour of Adoration. On the 31st. October, Mother General, Sr. Pauline Farrugia read her opening speech and declared the chapter open. After a short break, the Statutes of the Province was revived and approved. Over the course of the chapter, the delegates studied the suggestions of our local communities as well as those of individual sisters from our province.

The topics for the discussions in groups were:
1. Spirituality
2. Fraternal Life (Community)
3. Voction Promation
4. Administration

Everyone enthusiastically, participated in the discussions and sharing. All the participants worked together in co-responsibility and with a willingness to respond to what the Lord is calling us to to do in our Province. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus together with our Foundress, Madre Maria Teresa Nuzzo, accompany and assist us to fulfil the Province Objective of the

Chapter;”Journey of Hope in Joy”. May we “Be prophets of Joy and Hope” in today’s world. (Pope Francis)
