SR. CHRISTINA BECK: A ROSARY NUN
Sr. Christina was born in the year 1968 to humble parents Mr. Dominic and Veronica Beck in Jharkhand North India. To tell about her innshort, she was a nun with a rosary. Rosary was in her hands round the clock to recite. She believed that rosary is the ladder to heaven. When on her sick bed our Bishop Rt. Rev. Samuel visited to pray and bless her and gave a white rosary which she wore it happily around her neck till her demise. Such was her ardent love and devotion to Our Lady.
She had learnt the bible thoroughly. She used to conduct holy hours spontaneously without referring to books, and urged others in the community to learn the Bible in their free time. Basically she was a linguistic as she had to her credit 8 languages, English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Santhali, Uraavu, Sadhuri and Telugu although she didn’t pronounce the local languages well; that brought smile and joy to the listener. People remember her laughter and cheer that she spread around while spending time with them. She always began her classes with a prayer or a hymn. She was very good in art and craft and helped the children to prepare different flowers.
Sr. Christina’s Major surgery of the brain was done on 11 th December 2020 in Trivandrum, Kerala. Then she was taken to Rochmanagar for further treatment. On 11 January 2021 in the presence of members of the community along with Sr. Sarita Y who was there three days ago and two doctors she breathed her last peacefully without any struggle and disturbance. As she lived in silence so she died serenely. Her demise is a great loss for all of us as a congregation particularly to the South delegation. Words are inadequate to express all that she did yet we pray for her soul that God may pardon all her sins and grant her a share in his kingdom.Adieu dear Sr. Christina. We will always miss you.
