MY CALL AS A DSH
I am Sister Laura Sammut sharing the experience of my Vocation.
I used to go for Holy Mass every day at Nigret Zurrieq in the convent chapel of the sisters of the Daughters of the Sacred Hear. I felt very happy to be with the sisters and used to go even in the evenings to pray with them. Not to show where I was going I used to wear the Onnella, (It is an old traditional Maltese Dress) because the people used to say, “She is going to become a nun”
One evening one young girl knocked at the door of my house and brought for me a holy picture of “Jesus knocking at the door” and she told me, that it was sent for me by the sister who taught us catechism, and asked me to go and meet her. The sister encouraged me to continue to study well the catechism and also taught me embroidery work.
I was fifteen years old when I made up my mind to join the convent. Even though it was not easy for me to choose this congregation the good Lord who sawed the seed in me guided me in all my decisions to make the right choice in my life.
My family also helped me and gave me lot of courage. By the grace of God I was able to live my religious call for the last fifty-four years and hope to share my life as best as I can with joy and gratitude as I thank God for the gift of life and love from above. Praise the Lord.
