MY CALL AS A DSH
I am Sr Mary Mumo Mulani was born on 11th January 1979 in Machakos Diocese in Kilungu parish. Iam the fourth born in a family of six, four sisters and two brothers. My parents are now growing old.My brothers and two sisters are married and one sister is a nun in this congregation.
I was born in a strong Christian family.I learned how to pray especially the rosary from my parents who devoted themselves in praying it every evening before retiring to bed. They also encouraged us to attend Sunday school and church service every Sunday.I learned more about God from my parents and Sunday school teachers.
My desire to become a sister started when I was at the age of eight years. I could admire the Precious Blood Sisters who were working in our parish and I wished to be like them one day. My aunt who is an assumption sister was also a source of inspiration. She loved me so much and whenever she came home for holiday, she gave me stories of sisters and my desire to be a sister grew deeper. I can remember the many times I entered her car and refused to come out saying that I was going to become a sister like her. My aunt could take me by force promising me that I was to become one when I grew up.
When I was in class seven one of my dreams became true, I was elected as a Sunday school teacher. I was delighted and I dedicated myself fully in my service. By then, my sister had already joined the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, I told my parents that I wanted to join religious life after completing form four. They encouraged me to put more effort in studies so as to make my dream come true.
My sister did her first profession and wished to be like her one day. When she came home for her holiday, I revealed the secret to her.She told me to pray in order to see whether this was a true call. When I joined form one, I started to attend seminars, and I felt invited to serve the Lord as a DSH.In 1998 I joined aspirancy, and did my first profession in 2002.My community life, apostolic life and prayer life has helped me in my spiritual growth and each day I feel called to continue deepening my relationship with the Lord.In the year 2008 I did my final profession and up to date I’m still serving the Lord in Satellite community.Iam a teacher in the Pre-school and I love my vocation.
