MY CALL AS A DSH
“How great are your works, Lord! How profound your purpose. Ps, 92, 6.
All that I am and all that I possess you have given me Lord and in return I surrender all to you My Lord and God. Indeed it is very beautiful and I cherish the memories of my younger days.
Born in a strong Catholic family where Christ was the centre of everything in our lives. It was a must to take part in the Eucharistic celebrations on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I had the privilege of being educated in a convent school and they used to encourage us to be religious and do good things for the welfare of the society. The nuns made a great impact in my education and due to that I desired to become a missionary away from my home town which is Kerala. S. India.
During my college studies I met Sr Theresita a daughter of the Sacred Heart and she shared with us the challenges of being a missionary in N. India Jhansi. Until then I had no idea where this place or what language they spoke, but in the depth of my heart I heard the voice of my beloved calling leave behind all that is familiar to you and come follow me.
When I expressed my desire to become a sister in N. India my parents were hesitant to send me to a faraway state. But they stood with me to accept the plans of God in my life as he led me to Jhansi to discern my vocation as a DSH. During my formation I went through many challenges, difficulties and temptations but the God of surprises directed my life in the footsteps of our Foundress Maria Teresa Nuzzo to reach out to the needy in a simple and humble way. My life in the DSH family was a time to get in touch with the differ realities of life and discover God more personally as I climbed the ladder each day focusing my attention on the pierced heart of Jesus who welcomes me as I am in his wounded heart. I have served the Congregation in different fields of apostolates and I thank God for his continues blessings and whispering in my heart always “fear not I am with you” Is, 41, 10.
