FIRST PROFESSION OF SEVENTEEN SISTERS
On 18 January 2026, seventeen novices made their First Profession of Religious Vows at St. Gaetano Parish, Ħamrun, Malta. This joyful celebration marked a significant milestone in their vocational journey and in the life of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart. The newly professed sisters come from Tanzania, Uganda, India, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, reflecting the international character and unity of our religious family. Prior to their profession, they completed a four-year period of initial formation dedicated to prayer, discernment, community life, and apostolic preparation.
The final year of initial formation, undertaken as second-year novices, is normally held in Malta at the Mother House of the daughters of the Sacred Heart. This shared experience brings together novices from across the Congregation, fostering unity, intercultural understanding, and an appreciation of diversity, while strengthening their sense of belonging to one religious family.
Through the First Profession, the sisters publicly committed themselves to live the vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience. Following this step, they will continue their vocational discernment and formation as junior sisters for a period of six years, growing in maturity, responsibility, and fidelity to their call.
We give thanks to God for the generous response of these sisters and invite all to pray for them, that they may remain joyful and faithful as they continue their journey in religious life.
